The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess returns to the Met for the first time since 1990 in a production directed by James Robinson with choreography by Camille A. Brown in their company debuts. America’s “folk opera,” as described in 1935 by its creators, tells the story of Porgy, sung by Eric Owens, and his love for the drug-addicted Bess, portrayed by Angel Blue, with an all-star ensemble that includes Golda Schultz.
